The Digestion System

The Digestive System

The Digestive System is one of the major interfaces between our inner world and our outer, with a total surface that is some hundred times larger than the skin, with a complexity of reactions that are still beyond much of or understanding.  For instance, the number of living microbes that inhabit the digestive system equals the total number of cells in the body, but how exactly the mixture of these microbes influences our well-being, and how our state of health influences their condition, is still largely un-researched.
